Obituary

Gordon Rodney Wyatt

March 30, 1943 - May 15, 2025

With heavy hearts we announce Gord's passing. Gord is survived by his daughter, Shauna Wyatt of Winnipeg, MB. He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Mae (Tarasenco) Wyatt (April 27, 1948 - August 31, 2009) and his parents, John Henry (Harry) Wyatt and Mavis (Coates) Wyatt.

Gord was born and raised on the family farm in Melita, Manitoba, before moving to Winnipeg in 1961 to start his career with the Royal Bank. Over the years, he was transferred to various branches, including Fort Churchill and Steinbach, where he met Ginny.

Gord and Ginny were married in August 1967 and continued their journey, moving around Manitoba and Ontario, before finally settling in Winnipeg in 1975. After 35 years of dedicated service, Gord retired from the bank in 1996.

Gord was an avid golfer and loved life outside of the city. He took the opportunity in retirement to build his dream home on the golf course in Sandy Hook, where he was extremely happy up until his last days. Passionate about carpentry and construction, Gord was employed seasonally in construction in the Gimli area and continued to work on his own projects at home.

Gord was a proud and dedicated father, always wanting to share stories about his daughter's work and travels. Throughout his life he created many lifelong friendships and worked hard to maintain those connections. A sense of community and an "open door policy" was of great importance to him. He will be deeply missed but remembered by those of us who knew him.

In Gord's own words to all of those he has known throughout the years, "A toast to my friends and acquaintances, it's been a slice!"

Celebration of Life to be held on May 31, 2025 at 1:30pm-3:30pm at New Horizons Centre, 17 Loni Beach Rd, Gimli Manitoba.

For family and friends who would like to attend there will be a casual BBQ at Gord's house after the Celebration of Life.
