Obituary

Helen Bretchka (nee Bialek)

November 18, 1938 - November 15, 2025

It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen, on November 15th. Mom passed peacefully at Selkirk Regional Health Centre with her daughters by her side, and with the love of family and friends surrounding her.

Mom grew up in Hazelglen and married Victor Bretchka in 1956. They moved to Walkleyburg, where they farmed together until Dad’s passing in 2004. After Dad’s passing, Mom moved to Tyndall, where she lived until her passing.

Mom will be forever missed by her daughters Debbie (Raymond) Kashuba and Karen (Glen) Dudeck, and her two grandchildren Karleen, and great-grandchildren Oliver and Celia, and Kimberly (Garret), and great-grandchildren Carrie and Carson. She is survived by two sisters, Betty and Kathy, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Victor, her parents Julian and Carrie Bialek, and seven siblings – Edward, Mary, Adeline, John, Lawrence, Bobby, and Casey.

If friends desire, donations can be made in Mom’s name to Little Britain United Church and Hall.

A funeral service will be held on November 26, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Little Britain United Church and Hall, 5879 Hwy. #9, Lockport, with viewing 1 hr prior.
