Henry Alfred Smith
June 5, 1938 - February 17, 2020
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Henry (Hank) Smith on February 17, 2020 in Selkirk, Manitoba.
Left to mourn his loss are his son Jeff (Sandra and grandchildren Liam and Abigail), son Jaimie, daughter Jennifer (Mike) and the mother of his children and friend, Glennis. Hank will also be missed by his dear friend Maeola, his sister Janet and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Hank was predeceased by his parents Rose and Philip, brothers Philip and Paul and son-in-law Jason.
Dad was a very creative man which was demonstrated through his landscaping projects, his beautiful duck carvings and his never ending latest inventions. He lived in many places, choosing to make his career landscaping on Vancouver Island and then doing the grounds at a cemetery in Vancouver, making many friends along the way. Upon retiring Dad returned home where he got back into his passion of hunting, trapping and fishing. He was the happiest outdoors and would spend hours driving the back roads and singing old country while keeping an eye out for wildlife. He was an independent, strong willed man with an amazing sense of humour, which he maintained despite numerous health issues the last year and a half of his life.
The family would like to thank the staff on Med/Surg at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre and Red River Personal Care Home for their care and compassion.
As per Dad’s request there will be no service.
We hope that you are finally at peace and that you are somewhere laughing, singing and fishing.
We love you Pretty Pa.
