Inga Johnson, (Ingibjorg, nee Vigfusson)

November 28th, 1931 – December 25th, 2025

Mom, Amma, peacefully, on December 25th, 2025 at the Arborg Personal Care Home, Inga Johnson aged 94, passed away.

She is predeceased by her husband Steve Johnson, daughter Shirley Michaluk; son Gerald Johnson, infant son Maurice; and daughter- in- law Shirley Johnson. 

She is survived by her son-in-law Michael Michaluk; grandchildren Jeff Johnson (Joanne), Michelle Maffenbeier, Shannon Ireland (Chris), Michael (Tanya) Michaluk and great-grandchildren Joshua, Madison (Joshua), Ceanna (Ethan), Aidan, Alex (Olivia) and Anton.  Inga also leaves to mourn her sister Lily Peterson of Prince Rupert, B.C. and many other nieces and nephews.

Amma was the second oldest of 8 siblings. When she first moved to Arborg, she really treasured those special visits with sisters Gunna Sigurdson, and Alice Sigurdson, who would travel from Riverton to see her. 

Amma moved to the Arborg P.C.H in April 2018. She truly enjoyed her stay, where everyone was so kind and helpful keeping her in fine form.  Amma was a passionate curling fan and never missed a game on TV. She kept a daily journal and would often refer to it for important information she wanted to share.  She loved playing bingo and proudly showing us her winnings – often four quarters (meaning she won four games) Amma also kept her mind sharp by doing crosswords puzzles, which came easily to her.  She regularly had her nails and hair done and loved dressing up in her “matchy – matchy” outfits, which always made her feel better.

Amma was always thinking of others, often sending birthday cards well in advance. She especially looked forward to sending and receiving cards during the Christmas season.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home for taking such good care of Amma during her stay.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday December 31st, 2025  Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli at 10:30 a.m.
