Irene Podolchuk Obituary

In Loving Memory of Irene Ruth Podolchuk

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved sister, Irene Ruth Podolchuk, age 72. Irene's passing was a result of complications from COPD and other health issues. She joins her mother Olga and father Peter in the starry Heavens.

Irene leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and devotion for her family. She is survived by her sister Elaine, and brothers Ivan, Allan (Vivian), and David (Sherry Lee) along with nieces Angie, Sherry Anne, Jasmine, Olivia, nephews Chris, Doug and Steven and numerous great-nieces, and great-nephews. Irene held a special place in our hearts, and also in the lives of her cousins, Shirley, Luanna, Bev, Phyllis and her late sister Helen, Donny and Ray.  Special thanks to her neighbours Shirley and Sean helped her a lot in the last few months.

Irene embraced the role of a caring and nurturing figure, especially for her twin brothers Allan and David, following the passing of our mother and father. She took on the responsibility of ensuring our family traditions lived on, preparing meals for Christmas and Easter, even with limited resources. Irene's selflessness shone through as she managed to provide thoughtful gifts, such as candles or socks, for everyone, embodying the true spirit of generosity as well as friendship to her numerous cousins and friends.

Irene loved sports and played curling and golf.  She was a huge supporter of the Winnipeg Jets, and Blue Bombers. She was an Usher for the WHA Jets for many years, and worked in the booster club.

In reflecting on Irene's life, we realize the depth of her impact on our family and friends.  As children, we may not have fully appreciated her sacrifices and contributions, we are profoundly grateful for the indelible mark she left on all our lives.

Despite the challenges posed by distance and family commitments, Irene found solace in the connecting through social media with friends and family, using it as an opportunity to share live action and pictures with those she held dear. Irene's joy was derived from the happiness of her family and friends, and she found comfort in knowing they were close by and safe.

The last few months were difficult for Irene, but her love for us remained unwavering. As we navigate this profound loss, Irene's family, friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins are acutely aware of the immense void her absence leaves. Her memory be a source of strength, comfort, and inspiration for us all.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will occur in spring. Fly with the angels dear Irene. Your loving spirit lives on in our hearts forever.
