Jacqueline Baronins Obituary

JACQUELINE EVELYN MAY BARONINS (nee KEITH)

With deep sadness we announce Jackie’s passing on August 31, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her children Scott, Richard (Christine), Lynne (Steve) and Cheryl (Rob); grandchildren Miranda (Kevin), Caitlin, Alex (Rebecca), Matt (Meghan) and her great-grandchildren James, Calvin and Asher. She was predeceased by her husband Robert; father Arthur; mother Ethel and her sister Carole.

Jackie was born in Selkirk, Manitoba  on July 21, 1950 and lived on Strathnaver Avenue for most of her early life. She attended Selkirk Junior High and the Regional Comprehensive High Schools and was active in sports, participating in track and field as a sprinter. She spent much of her adult life working with her sister Carol and her mother Ethel at Ethel’s Flower Shop in Selkirk, which was the primary florist in town for many years. In the summer 1976, she married Robert Baronins of Winnipeg and briefly re-located to Edmonton, Alberta. Jackie, Robert and family moved back to Selkirk in 1977. After Ethel's Flower Shop closed in 2009, Jackie went on to work for Market Place Grocery Store and Canadian Tire where she made many friends. Jackie was an animal lover and was always in the company of pet dogs and cats that she spoiled greatly. She never met an animal she did not like and never owned a pet that did not become fat. She also took in an injured squirrel on one occasion and nursed it back to health before releasing it to her back yard, probably a few pounds heavier. Jackie was a great cook and her Boxing Day dinners were a favorite for the entire family. Her turkey and gravy were particularly good as were her cabbage rolls, but it is her welcoming spirit, hugs, kind heart, and quick smile we will miss the most.

Services will be held at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline Street in Selkirk, Manitoba on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held at the Anglican Parish of Christ Church, 227 McLean Avenue in Selkirk  immediately following the service with interment to follow at St. Clements Cemetery.
