Janet Elizabeth Frizzley Obituary
In Loving Memory of Janet M.E. Frizzley
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet M.E. Frizzley (Carter) on April 15, 2026 after a long and courageous fight with cancer. She died peacefully with her daughter by her side at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg. She was 76. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Janet eventually made her home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, though her heart always remained close to her East Coast roots.
Janet was a woman of remarkable dedication. She began her professional journey with the Department of National Defence (DND) and later worked with Superannuation (DSS) in Ottawa. Life eventually led her to Ile des Chênes, Manitoba, where she raised her family and became a cornerstone of the community. Whether she was teaching catechism, driving the school bus, or running her own driver’s education school, Janet was always looking out for others. She was especially known for her kindness toward local youth, famously keeping her door open as a safe "hangout spot" whenever a teenager needed a place to go.
Above all, Janet was a devoted mother. Her love for her daughters, Amanda and Stacey, was the light of her life. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, her green thumb in the garden, her love for pickle ball, and the genuine warmth she extended to every friend and family member she met.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Sylvia Carter (Melanson); her beloved daughter, Amanda; and her siblings, Gloria, Wayne, Victor, Gary, Eric, and Leroy.
Her legacy of love lives on through her daughter, Stacey; her former husband, Craig; and her siblings, Leonard and Brenda Hambrook (John) of Moncton, along with a wide circle of extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Riverview Health Centre for their kindness, attentiveness and patience while caring for Jan.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Notre Dame de la Misericorde Church in Ile Des Chenes, MB. Service will be livestreamed via the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=1-Cc_WC4v8w
