Joan Violet Neufeld (nee Turner)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother and oma at the age of 89 on Saturday, March 22, 2025 peacefully at Gimli Betel home surrounded by her family.

Joan leaves behind her children, Kelly (Linda), Kerry (Norine) and Joanne (Arnie); grandchildren, Danielle (Ev), Bryant, John, Garth, Matthew, Kendra (EJ), Sean and great-grandchildren Dallas and Sapphire.  She is also survived by her brother Fred (Karin), sister Dawn (Harley) and sister-in-law Mary and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Henry; her parents Jack and Siunn Turner; her siblings Corrine and Jack and her grandson Myles.

Joan was born in Winnipegosis where she went to school until coming to Winnipeg to normal school to become a teacher.  Mom loved teaching and spoke of it always fondly.  She taught in Flin Flon then came to Winnipeg where she met Henry, the love of her life, married and began the wonderful job of raising her family.

Mom spent her life being the best homemaker possible.  She raised her three kids and looked after Henry.  Her family was her passion.  Camping every weekend around Manitoba until settling at Pies, Joan was constantly making the family run smoothly.  Joan spent her life in service to others. She volunteered everywhere from collecting for charities, community club, school and Church.  She then spent her later years helping raise her grandchildren.  Best Oma ever.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers that took such loving care of Mom.  First the team of girls (her girls) that looked after mom and dad at home for years, enabling them to stay together and then in the last year at Betel Home Gimli.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, at 400 Rouge Road, a luncheon to follow in the Church hall.  Service will be live streamed.
