Obituary

Grace Beverly Joan Webster

(nee Edmunds)

December 6, 1934 – March 15, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Mother, Nana and Great-Nana, truly one of a kind.

Joan was predeceased by husband Dave, the love of her life, along with all family members of her generation. Survived by son John (Enid), daughter Linda (John Ritlbauer) and son Jim (Kim) along with an ever growing family grandchildren Ainsley (Stephen), Ian (Marina), Corey (Megan), Vanessa (Kenny), Nicole (Dicky), Marlee (Colton), Ryan (Chelsey) along with great-grandchildren, Olivia, Riley, Maeve, Colby, Harley, Autumn, Duke, Aria, Daxx, Vander and one more on the way.

Mom always told us that she lead an interesting and full life. Joan was born in Selkirk, Mb., moving to England for a few years following the war then returning to Selkirk for the remainder of her formative years. It was then a move to the big city, Winnipeg and eventually a job at Eaton’s where with the help of co-workers she would be introduced to her future husband enjoying 55 years of marriage. Mom and Dad enjoyed many trips including Hawaii and overseas to visit with family. After many years of raising their family in East Kildonan, the folks retired to the Village of Dunnottar. After a brief move to Winnipeg Beach, Joan then moved back to Winnipeg on her own. Mom’s last stop was Devonshire House where she enjoyed the company of some wonderful new friends.

One of Joan’s biggest joys in life was family gatherings whether they were big or small.  Nana developed unique and wonderful relationships with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Whether it was Mentos, toffee tarts, deer meat morsels, chocolate chip cookies, ice cream cones, Pic a Pops, perogies, individual packages of peanut butter etc., ensuring that they each received their favourites, has left the “Kids” with wonderful memories and an everlasting love.

The family would like to thank the sixth floor Cardiology team and the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital for all their care and compassion during this most difficult time.

As per Joan’s wishes no funeral will be held.  A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Flowers are gratefully declined, if you so wish donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation Canada.
