Joe Bosak Obituary

Joe Bosak

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe Bosak at the age of 101 years on December 7, 2021 at the Red River Personal Care Home.

He will be greatly missed by his niece Barbara and her family, niece Lucy and her family, and nephew Kaz (Helen). Joe was predeceased by his wife Sophie in 2009.

Joe was born in Poland on November 4, 1920 where he spent his young years. When the war broke out, he was taken to a Labor Camp in Germany. There he met and married Sophie and after the war was over, they immigrated to Canada.

In 1949, Joe started to work for Balcaen & Sons in Selkirk. He loved being busy, there was no job that was too big or too small for Joe. He later worked for TNT Plumbing and Heating and really enjoyed working there and spoke highly of the company. Joe always took great pride in his work, and was respected by many.

Joe was a very strong Catholic, his strong love for God was unwavering. He was a member of Notre Dame Parish where he was on the Parish Council. He was an active member with the Knights of Columbus, and earned the Fourth Degree honorary life membership, which he was very proud of.

When his friend’s daughter joined the convent, Joe was introduced to St. Benedict Sisters and became their friend. He enjoyed their company and often visited them. The Sisters also made numerous visits to his home, and later continued to visit him at the Red River Place. When any obstacle got in his way, he amazed us all with his perseverance and sheer determination to overcome it. Joe would never give up until he accomplished what he set out to do.

He was one amazing man, his intelligence and genuine caring always showed in his eyes. Joe was loved and respected by his family. He will be greatly missed.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff at the Red River Place for their kind care during his stay there.

Due to restrictions a private Mass will be celebrated on December 13, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Notre Dame Church. It will be livestreamed via the following link https://youtu.be/o1l-tbkM7Vg

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Notre Dame Church, 269 Jemima St., Selkirk, MB R1A 1W9.

We will miss and always remember you Wujciu….
