John Eldon Midford
November 28, 1954 - September 6, 2025
It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of John Midford, loving and dedicated husband of Sandra Midford, brother to Chris (Judy) and Loa (Russ), special uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and a trusted friend to many. John (affectionately known as J.B.), was predeceased by his father and mother, Gestur and Gladys Midford, and his eldest sister, Karen.
The majority of John’s life was spent in the East Selkirk and Selkirk areas and this is where he met the love of his life, Sandra. Married in 2003, they remained as committed and in love with each other as the day they said, ‘I do’. Coffee and a crib board laid the foundation for what John referred to as, ‘the best thing I ever did’!
Family was important and central in John’s life and he could always be counted on at family dinners, card games, and for the past twenty years every weekend that the weather would allow at Winnipeg Beach. There, John and Sandy could either be seen bombing around in their golf cart or tending a fire. In Selkirk, the Saturday meat draw at the ANAF club took the place of beach life in the winter months.
Above all, John will be remembered for his big heart, generosity, and the fierceness of his love for family. We will miss you terribly John and we will honour you by letting those tender qualities continue to guide us.
A gathering to honour and celebrate J.B. will be held on October 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline Avenue, Selkirk, Manitoba. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed via the following link: https://youtube.com/live/9VrMmMYQ3EY?feature=share
