John (Boogie) Bullivant Obituary

John Henry Bullivant ("Boogie")
July 10, 1933 – June 27, 2026

John, (Jack), Henry Bullivant, affectionately known as "Boogie," passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, with family by his side, just 33 days after the passing of his beloved companion of 45 years, Moira Setter.

Boogie is lovingly remembered by Moira's family, whom he cherished as his own: Rick (Leanne), Jackie (Trevor), and Lana (Dave); grandchildren Kylie (Troy), Brenden (Jana), Bretton, Jared, TJ (Tayler), Olivia (Dylan), Stephanie, Ellen, Connor, and Jillian (Nolan); great-grandchildren Raiden, Rowan, and Renley; and his good friend, Kenny Kell.

He was predeceased by his parents, Patience ("Peggy") Canvin and Samuel Bullivant; his beloved partner, Moira Setter; his sister, Sally Bullivant; and his daughter-in-law, Valerie Setter.

Born and raised in Selkirk, Boogie spent all 92 years of his life in the family home on Dufferin Avenue, a house built by his father. He worked for Manitoba Telephone Systems for 35 years and often joked that he had the pleasure of being retired longer than he had worked.

Retirement suited him well. For many years, he enjoyed operating his golf cart rental business at the Selkirk Golf & Country Club, tending to his beautiful gardens, and spending time with the people he loved most. Some of his happiest moments were spent in the garage with Moira, listening to music and enjoying each other's company.

Boogie was known for his gentle spirit, kind heart, and generous nature. He especially loved cooking and took great pride in preparing food for him and Moira. Rick, Jackie, and Lana are deeply grateful for the love, friendship, and unwavering support he brought into their lives. He welcomed family and friends with open arms, and whenever someone suggested having a beer, Boogie would smile and say, "Never had a bad beer," before settling in to enjoy the conversation and companionship.

In keeping with Boogie's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held. He will be laid to rest during a private family interment at a later date.

Rest in peace, Mom and Boogie. Together again.
