John Bryon (Jay) Johnson Obituary

John Bryon Johnson (Jay)

July 4, 1956 – August 11, 2019

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the untimely passing of our father, brother and uncle and all of his friends, at his home after a long battle with illness.

Jay was predeceased by his father Helgi and his mother Shirley. He is survived by his wife Brenda Johnson, his daughters Kyra (Ward) Kapach, Samantha Johnson and his son Loki Johnson, his sisters Pat Cordner and Jacquie (George) Turner, his nephews Brendan Cordner, Troy (Krista) Turner and Jay Thor (Jill) Turner.

He was raised in Gimli and loved to swim. He spent a lot of time teaching his nephew Brendan to swim after he almost drowned. Jay had many friends that will miss him dearly. He had a zest for fixing anything with a motor and spend a lot of time fixing up his numerous cars that he owned. He loved his dogs and snowmobiling. He spent a lot of time fixing up bicycles, which was his hobby and joy, especially when he could find an old style bike and bring it back to life. Jay could be seen all the time motoring around the city on his gas driven bicycle which he created himself.

In keeping with his wishes, Jay was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in his memory.
