Josef Appelon
Dec. 20, 1930 – Jan. 4, 2026
Josef was born in Pasing, Munich, Germany, first born son of Josef Appelon and Maria Appelon (Eder).
After completion of his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker, he decided to emigrate to Canada in 1951, working all over Canada. He settled down in Winnipeg and in 1956 he married Ingeborg Girshner.
After a few years they adopted their son Dany. Dan had the misfortune to be in a fatal accident in 1997. His wife Kim and children were devasted. But life goes on.
Joe’s hobbies in younger years were soccer where he had many friends. Later it was fishing and hunting. As a 40 year member of St. Hubertus Game and Fish, he was involved with the club for many years.
He is sadly missed by his family in Germany, including 8 siblings and numerous nieces, nephews and happy his wife Ingeborg having passed from Alzheimer’s disease is spared the angst of his departure.
He is also sadly missed by his family in Canada, daughter-in-law Kim, grandchildren Sharlene, Danielle, Jade, Lexa and Casha, great-grandchildren Kylan, Mason, Grayson, Jackson, Kali and Daxton.
