Obituary

Judith-Lynne Ferris (nee Christiansen)
February 11, 1959 -January 23, 2023.
It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Peacefully with loved ones by her side she went home to be with our Lord in heaven.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Donavon, and son John and families. She is survived by her siblings Milton, Caroline(Barry), Billy(Helen), Diane, Anita, Sandra(Brent), and Kim.  As well as her sister-in-laws Treva, Betty(Gerald),and brother-in-law Irvine(Sherri). She was predeceased by her parents Cupie and Vicki Christiansen, and brothers Gary and Jimmy; as well as in-laws Tena and Robert Ferris. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Judith grew up in Selkirk the fourth youngest of ten children. She was always full of adventure and with her family she spent many summers at Chalet beach swimming, fishing, and waterskiing. When the days grew long everybody would race to “the cabin” to read comic books by the light of the lanterns while soft music played from the radio.  It was a magical time for Judith and her family as she so loved the lake.
Judith was so strong and can only be described as a fighter!  At the age of fifteen she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and subsequently underwent many surgeries to survive including the amputation of her left leg.  However, this never stopped her from living a very full life, she was determined and so once she beat cancer she decided to become a nurse.
Judith spent her entire nursing career working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Health Sciences Centre, caring for critically ill babies her whole life. She took great pride in her career and was at one point a neonatal transport nurse which just proved her inner strength and fortitude.
Many summers were spent camping at Rushing River Provincial Park with her sister and nephews and nieces and her son John.   Jude always had a way to find fun wherever she was. She truly loved life and given a second chance after beating cancer she went full steam ahead.
She will always be remembered as a wonderful, kind, strong and loving person. Her greatest accomplishment in her life was always her son John and the love she has for him will always be with him.
Now as we mourn her passing and celebrate her life we take comfort in knowing she is with everybody that loved her and is safe in the arms of Jesus.  She is at peace and until we meet again we will miss you and always hold you in our hearts.
Private family interment to take place at Notre Dame Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
Condolences may be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
