Judith Watt Obituary

Judith Lynne Watt (nee Dyer)

September 12, 1950 - March 31, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Judy on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 75. Judy will be forever remembered and missed by her husband Doug; daughter Stacy (Lance); grandson Dawson; sister Laural (Cliff); sisters-in-law Elizabeth and Marjukka; brother-in-law Jock (Kathy), honorary granddaughter Sam as well as many cherished nieces and nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly. Judy was predeceased by her parents Bill and Roberta Dyer, son Patrick, sister Pat, brothers Bill and Jim, brother-in-law Keith, in-laws Bill and Jenny, sisters-in-law Dalene and Barbara, nephew Shane and grandson Patrick.

Judy was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan her family moving to Neepawa when she was 8. The farm was her favorite summer spot where many memories were made with her cousins. After graduating from high school she obtained her teaching certificate. She took time to go travelling around Europe before moving to Easterville for her first teaching job.

While attending a Sadie Hawkins dance in Grand Rapids she met a handsome man who drove a red 1967 Cougar. August 17, 1974 Doug and Judy were married, moved to Fairford and started their 51 years together.

September 18, 1978 they were blessed to welcome their daughter Stacy, and a year later moved to Davis Point Rd where they stayed for 36 years.

Over the years Judy worked at a Group home, did subbing, worked at St. Martin Solo, and the Northern Store, finally retiring as an E.A at Gyp School - the same day Doug retired as a bus driver- in 2015, moving to Petersfield to be closer to their grandson Dawson.

Judy was a great sewer, making many clothes and Halloween costumes for me. She taught myself and other children how to sew as part of her involvement in 4-H. She enjoyed knitting - whenever there was an announcement of a new baby on the way she would start a beautiful blanket to gift them.

She was often found with her nose in a book, doing a crossword puzzle. or gardening.

Curling was a great passion of hers - I credit her to teaching me the proper way to "Bonspiel".

Judy was very involved in the community with Gypsumville United Church, St. Martin Rec Centre, calling Bingo, helping to organize Home Coming, Fall Suppers, baseball tournaments, Bonspiels and many other events.

We are grateful to the staff at H.S.C for their kind and compassionate care.

In accordance to wishes there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Children's Hospital
