Judy Sanderson (Bedrich)

 

Judy passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

 

She is survived by her daughter Jodi (Darren), son Cory (Shannon), and her grandchildren Layne, Destyni (Steven), and Logan; her brother Richard (Sharon); her sister Joanne; as well as many friends, nieces, and nephews.

 

Judy was predeceased by her husband Henry; her parents Caroline and Walter Bedrich; and her in‑laws Sophie and Clarence Sanderson Sr.

 

She had a special love for, and will also be missed by, her furry best friends, Susie and Tobie.

 

Judy loved watching all sports and enjoyed everything from golf and baseball to football, hockey and the Olympics. When Cory was younger, she could often be found cheering him on at hockey games. Judy and her brother‑in‑law Bob were proud three‑legged‑race champions for many years. Growing up, Judy was a devoted Boston Bruins fan, as there was no Winnipeg Jets team at the time. When Winnipeg finally had its own team, she became a loyal Jets supporter, especially cheering for her favourite players Dale “Ducky” Hawerchuk and Teemu Selanne. She is the reason Jodi became a Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan, attending games together in the end zone and never leaving until the final whistle. One of Judy’s last conversations was spent talking about baseball and Captain Kirk of the Toronto Blue Jays.

 

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and home care workers who supported Judy throughout her illness. Your care meant more than words can say. A special thank you to Nurse Jamie from Cancer Care — you are truly an angel.

 

In accordance with Judy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A gathering to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at the home of her daughter. Details will be shared privately.
