Julia Helen Bosko
(nee Kozun)
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Julia Bosko, aged 88 years, beloved wife of the late Andrew (Andy) Bosko at Red River Personal Care Home on December 20, 2024.
Julia was born January 17, 1936, in Selkirk, Manitoba to Annie and John Kozun. She is survived by her children Peggy (Gary), Terry, Patty (Melvin), Andrea (Pat), Heather (Mike), and Jonathan (Corey), fifteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Julia also leaves to mourn her passing many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Julia was predeceased by her late husband Andrew, mother Annie, father John, four sisters and three brothers.
Julia was youngest of eight children. She learned from her mother and sisters how to raise a family, cook, and garden. After completing grade eleven, she taught school for a short period. After she married Andy, they began a family. Together they had a mixed grain and animal farm, raising cattle, pigs and chickens and selling eggs.
Mom was one of the best Ukrainian cooks. In the early years of raising her family, she often looked after the homestead in East Selkirk by herself, while Dad was working away. She loved to knit slippers and dish cloths, and to read romance novels, Women's World and Reader's Digest. Mom's greatest joy was having the whole family around to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.
Julia's family would like to thank the staff at Red River Personal Care Home for the care and compassion they gave her.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, Manitoba
