Keith Hayden Obituary

Keith Hayden Obituary

Keith Hayden

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Keith Hayden, on Friday, April 10, 2026, with family by his side. Born on December 8, 1949, in Badger, Newfoundland, Keith later made his way to Gimli, Manitoba where he met his wife, Daphne Markusson. Together, they made their home along the shores of Lake Winnipeg a place that perfectly matched his free spirit and connection to nature. Keith lived life to the fullest, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures and carrying with him a strong sense of hard work, integrity and unwavering love.

Above all else, Keith was a family man. Coming from a large family of ten siblings he learnt early the values of connection and the importance of loyalty. His greatest joy in life came from the people he loved, and he poured his heart into being a devoted and faithful husband, a loving father to his children Keri, Lori (Jon), Candace (Darcy), Curtis (Barry) and a proud Papa to his four grandchildren Kirstie (Chris), Chelsey, Hayden and Keira (Luke). He was fiercely protective and deeply committed to his family, serving a steady source of strength for the ones he loved.

Keith embraced every opportunity to be outdoors where he felt most at peace and found joy in fishing, gardening, or a simple bonfire. A true jack of all trades there was little he couldn’t fix, build or figure out. Gifted with intelligence and an endlessly resourceful mind, Keith approached life with confidence and determination.

Strong in both body and character, Keith never hesitated to lend a hand and had a genuine presence that others were naturally drawn to. Known for his no-nonsense attitude, balanced with a sharp wit and a quiet, unmistakable humor, he believed a person's word meant everything-the kind of man who could seal a deal with a handshake or a signature on a napkin and stand by it without hesitation.

He found happiness in the moments that mattered like cooking a good meal, sharing a beer with friends, or listening to the music of Leonard Cohen.

His presence was steady, his character strong, and his loyalty unwavering.

Keith leaves behind a legacy of strength, honesty, and love. He will be deeply missed but his spirit will live on in the stories he shared, lessons he taught and the love he leaves behind. He will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at St Boniface Hospital, Home Care Nurses in Gimli, and Gilbart Funeral Home for their care and compassion.
