Obituary

KEITH DOUGLAS FISHER

Keith passed away March 20, 2025 at the Betel Home in Gimli, Manitoba at the age of 86, where he resided for the past year.  He was born on March 17, 1939 in Winnipeg.

Keith will be lovingly remembered  by his wife of 66 years, Charleen; his son Douglas (Barbara) Fisher and grandchildren Chad (Shasta) and Jenna (Braden); daughter Audrey (Michael) Dupre and  grandchildren Darrell (Cheryl), Ian (Ashley) and Michelle; great grandchildren Tiara, Tavin, Tylyn, Leland, Brynlee, Trinity, Faith, Wesley and Evelyne; brother Douglas Fisher and sister Diane Papineau; as well as family and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents Roy and Marguerite, brother Ron, sister Valerie, sister-in-law Shirley Fisher, brothers-in-law Murray Anderson and Robert Papineau, and grandson Jordan.

Keith had a long career in the trade industry.  He began working for his father in the foundry business prior to starting his own company in the early 1970’s (Saturn Industries) with his partner, John Lang, in trailer manufacturing and later slings.  Upon retirement, he moved to his lakeshore home in the South Beach division at Grindstone Provincial Park.

Keith enjoyed many pastimes, including hunting and fishing (especially the annual May long weekend fishing trip to Jim’s Sand Beach cabin at Caribou Lake), snowmobiling, boating, gardening, and travelling with Char throughout the States, Mexico and Cuba, along with Doug and Shirley.  A highlight of his travels included renting a motorhome for a 6-month road trip throughout Alaska.

The family would like to thank the staff at Betel Personal Care Home in Gimli for the compassionate care they gave Keith the past year.  Also, a special thank you to Char’s  brother, Wayne, who continuously travelled back and forth from Edmonton to help out, and drive them to visit family, attend appointments and run errands.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Keith’s memory may be made to the Parkinson Society or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Winnipeg South Osborne Legion, 426 Osborne Street, Winnipeg on April 26, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
