LARRY FEY

Larry Fey, age 71, passed away peacefully on May 28th, 2026, at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre after a courageous, long struggle with cancer. In his final moments, he was surrounded by the comfort and love of his devoted wife and children.

​Born to the late Donna and Eugene Fey, Larry grew up on his parents' farm north of Selkirk. He attended school and made many lifelong friends. At 17, he decided to enter the workforce full time. He worked as a laborer for different companies, before starting at the steel mill in Selkirk. It was there he spent over 40 years of combined service, retiring from Gerdau in 2015. Larry lived a life defined by his strength, warmth, and adventurous spirit. He believed in working hard, but also enjoying life to the fullest. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and to celebrate afterwards for a job well done. He had a lifelong passion for anything cars and motorcycles, loved hitting the road, and cherished every opportunity to travel. Larry and Karen had many holiday and travel adventures together. Above all, his favorite place to be was Mazatlán, where they made many countless beautiful memories and friends.

​He is survived by his loving wife Karen, and his sons Kalvin (Cheryl), Christopher (Monica), and Tyler (Sadie). He is also survived by his daughter Shannon (Brad) and her son Gabriel, whom he was brought together with after becoming ill and felt incredibly blessed to know. He also leaves his grandchildren Clara, Max, Damon, Lincoln, Dorian and Ivy, who he deeply loved, and was so proud of. His brother Roy (Sandra) and sister Noreen. Larry also leaves a large extended family and many friends, too numerous to mention. And always by his side, his faithful companion Harley, who gave unconditional love and comfort every day.

​For all of the care given to Larry throughout his illness, the family would like to thank Doctors Paradoski, Alexander, and Brown, and the nursing staff at the Selkirk Chemo department, and also Dr. Zhang and his staff at the Buhler Cancer Centre in Winnipeg.

​Cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will be held at a later date as per Larry's wishes.
