Obituary

Laura Lynne Duguid (nee Young)

August 6, 1961 - November 9, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce that, Laura Lynne Duguid (nee Young) passed away peacefully on the morning of November 9, 2025, at Selkirk Regional Health Centre, with her loving husband Randy at her side.

She was predeceased in her immediate family by her mother Beverly Young, her father Gordon Young, and her brother Dwayne Young.

She is lovingly remembered and sorely missed by her husband Randy and his children Marlee (Matt) and Heather (Danny), her two cherished grandchildren Grayson and Reese, and her brothers Glen (Brenda), Chris (Robin), Wade, and Kurt (Sierra), along with her mother-in-law Georgina Duguid, father-in-law Don Duguid (Barb), brothers-in-law Terry (Linda), Dale (Sarah), Kevin (Sharon), and Dean. A large family of aunts, uncles, and cousins are also deeply saddened over her loss.

Born in Winnipeg on August 6, 1961, Laura moved to Lockport and attended Selkirk High School (LSRCSS). As a young girl, she spent her summers at her grandparents’ resort at White Lake in the Whiteshell. There she learned treasured family recipes and developed a life-long love of cooking.

Laura embarked on a successful career at MTS at age 18 and she worked for the company until she retired in 2015. Thereafter she settled into life at her home with Randy on Sandy Hook Golf Course. Her summers were spent in the company of wonderful friends. She kept a beautiful garden and pursued interests in arts and crafts, particularly stained glass. Ladies’ night golf became a much-anticipated weekly event. She spent winters in Arizona and would always say that she was living a dream. She loved her life and lived it to the fullest. Always active, she was an avid golfer and curler. She enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, Sea-doing, hiking, and kayaking. In her quieter moments, she especially loved to swim laps in the pool in Arizona.

A highlight for Laura was attending her Lobert family reunion this past summer in Grand View, Manitoba, where she got to see all her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was immensely proud of her family history and looked forward to the event every five years.

The family would like to thank all the healthcare staff at HSC. We are grateful as well to Victoria Wilgosh and the staff at Selkirk Regional Health Centre for their kindness and compassion during her final days. While many friends and family provided much appreciated support during this challenging time, special thanks are owed to Laura’s aunt Pat Pellaers.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Rest easy my love,

Randy Duguid
