(Lena) Lee Drabik ( nee Weik)
1929 – 2025
The journey of Mom’s life ended peacefully on Oct. 6/25 in Selkirk.
She will forever be missed by daughter Kathie, son-in-law Gordon, grandson Shawn, granddaughter Jenna-Lyn (Pieter) and great-grandson Aiden.
Predeceased by her husband, Philip, and her 5 siblings and their spouses, her passing marks the end of a generation of the Weik family.
Mom grew up on the family farm in Homer, Mb. After marrying Dad in 1950, they made their home on various Air Force bases in central Canada. Dad’s military retirement marked their return to Arborg in 1964. Mom has resided at Woodland Courts in Selkirk these last 16 years.
Mom was employed wherever they lived, the last being at Lake Center News (Interlake Publishing) in Arborg. Working at the newspaper both as clerk and reporter, along with involvement in curling and Arborg’s Curling Club made her known to many. Mom made numerous friends over the years and maintained many of these close friendships throughout her life. She leaves special memories with her friends of over 60 years; Olga and Lillian in Arborg, devoted friends since their meeting in Texas, Lorraine and Art, and her favorite partner in verbal sparring at Woodland Courts, Pauline.
Mom has always been an organizer, a person who kept up with the happenings in her town and further abroad. She served extensively on various boards, committees and volunteer groups. Mom was a planner and organizer in our family and was always happiest controlling the details. Among our extended families it was common to hear; “ I’m not sure, go and ask Auntie Lee”
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of her life will take place on Oct. 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ardal-Geyser Lutheran Church in Arborg. Pastor Jennifer Marlor officiating. Our family will privately inter the ashes in Homer Cemetery prior to the service.
