Lila Smith Obituary

Lila Mary Smith (nee Paulson)

It is with great sadness that we announce after a brief battle with cancer on September 19, 2022 at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, with her family by her side at 11:56 a.m. mom took her last breath and went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, whom she loved and served, where she will no longer suffer in pain.

Mom was predeceased by the love of her life Edwin (dad); daughter Susan; great-grandchild Jazlyn; her parents Felix and Florence Paulson; little brother Gerry Paulson.

Left to cherish mom’s memory, daughters Janice (Randy), Kim (Norm) and Karen (Doug); 9 grandchildren, Jeremy (Jessica), Jenine (Dan), Jordan (Caycia), Preston (Larissa), Phylisha (Bailey), Pamela (Don), Brittany (Shanley), Peter (Mandi Brandi) and Leanne (Nathan); her loving 24 great-grandchildren; sisters Rita, Barbara and Emily (Maurice); brother-in-law Graham (Ada) Smith; sister-in-law Dale Smith; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Also her special friend and neighbour Diana and her dear old friend and sister Lois.

Mom was born August 10, 1938 in Selkirk, MB and was raised and grew up at Stony Point.

Mom was an active member at Wayside Chapel and Selkirk Chapel, where she is greatly missed. Mom also volunteered at the Betel Home, where she would play piano and sing to the elderly. She and dad would volunteer cooking at Faith Bible Camp.

She was a precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will always be remembered with love, for her open heart and home, with her great bakings and of course a good game of 5-crowns with family.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB with Ken Hayes and David Hnatiuk officiating. Interment will follow the luncheon at the Balsam Bay Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jeremy, Jordan, Norman Yarish, Preston, Doug McLeod and Peter Differ. Honourary Pallbearer Randy Laye.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in mom’s memory to Faith Bible Camp
