Linda Smorang (Antonio) Obituary
Linda Smorang (Antonio)
June 24, 1946 – May 18, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Smorang, who left this world peacefully on May 18, 2026, at the age of 79.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by devoted husband Robert; her children, Chad (Gillian), Todd, and Marla; and her cherished grandchildren, Emilee, Addisyn, and Lillie, who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her brother, Kurt (Cindy).
She also leaves to mourn her passing her nieces, nephews, and the extended Smorang family, all of whom were blessed to have her in their lives.
Predeceased by her parents, Evelyn and Earl Wilwand; her sister, Judy Hopman; and her brother, Greg Wilwand.
For 33 wonderful years, she shared a loving life with her devoted husband, Robert. During those years, she tried hard to embrace farm life. Whether she was learning to rake hay or caring for the cows she was happy if she was doing it with Robert.
She loved the outdoors and treasured the time spent at Otter Falls with her parents at their seasonal site, creating many cherished memories over the years. Camping trips with her children, traveling whenever possible, and enjoying nature brought her great happiness and were some of her favourite ways to spend time with family and loved ones. She also treasured the special friendship she shared with her childhood friend, Maureen and all the memories they made together.
Christmas was her favourite holiday, and she delighted in everything the season brought — decorating, family gatherings, holiday meals, and finding the perfect gifts for those she loved. The holiday season brought her immense joy and created lasting memories for her family. Of course, Christmas would not be complete for Linda without Boxing day shopping, she loved all the sales she would find.
A dedicated employee, she spent 43 years working in the accounting department at Air Canada, a career she truly enjoyed. During her years there, she formed many valued friendships, especially the lifelong bond she shared with her dear friend, Darlene.
Known for her warm spirit, gentle heart, and unwavering love for family and friends, she touched the lives of many through her compassion, wisdom, and sense of humour. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and grace.
Though she is no longer with us, the love she shared and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held at Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, MB on Friday, May 29th at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to remember her by sharing stories, offering prayers, and honouring the kindness she showed to so many.
In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made in Linda’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society.
“Those we love never truly leave us; they live on in the memories we hold and the love they gave.”
