Marlyn Laura Duff (nee Davis), 85, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, died at River East Personal Care Home on July 18, 2026, with family by her side.

Marlyn was born in Brandon, Manitoba on August 8, 1940. Beloved wife of 67 years, Edward (Eddie) Cornelius Duff; mother of Kathleen (Ken) Dickinson, Kelly (Brian) Duplak, the late Kimberly (Slav) Kozar, Allan (Karen) Duff, Myles Duff, Angela (Tim) Howells.

Marlyn (Grannie) loved her 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. From Kathy and Ken Dickinson: Jonathan (Berenice), children Matthew and Maddison; Sarah (Abhi Pushparaj), children Melody, Bodi, and Willow; Michael (Lauren), child Josephine. From Kelly and Brian Duplak: Marielle (Ari); Aaron (Danielle); Evan; Natalie (Cole) Matthes; Stephen (Josée), child Evangeline; Janine Duplak; and Martin Duplak. From Kim and Slav Kozar: Joshua; Luke (Olivia), children Owen and Aspen; Matthew (Ainsley), child Aubrey. From Allan Duff: Danton. From Myles Duff: the late Connor/Mandy; Cameron, children Bennett and Mason; Ryan; Brendan; Anna Marie. From Angela and Tim Howells: Aiden.

Marlyn was predeceased by her parents; her beloved daughter, Kimberly (Kim) Kozar (2020); her beloved grandchild, Connor/Mandy Duff (2022); and her cherished sister, Sandra Davis (2014).

Marlyn spent most of her life in Winnipeg, Manitoba becoming a wife at 18 and a mother at just 19. She had 6 children in 8 years (1 set of twins) and dedicated her days to raising her children. In 1974, Marlyn’s family proudly joined in a standing ovation when she received her grade 12 high school diploma as the first mature student to graduate at Pierre Radisson Collegiate. This milestone helped Marlyn to qualify to apply to St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing to achieve her dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated in 1976 and worked as a nurse at St. Boniface Hospital, Victoria General Hospital and then at an outpatient clinic before she retired. Mom’s example of studying and working hard to achieve her goal encouraged 4 of her 6 children to go into nursing.

Marlyn had many hobbies including baking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. During her retirement, Marlyn lovingly created many baby outfits and blankets to give as gifts to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked for several years alongside friends at the Hospital Auxiliary in Gimli, Manitoba making all kinds of treasures for fundraising. She also enjoyed travelling with Eddie during their retirement where they would visit warmer places during the winter. Throughout the years, Marlyn travelled 3 times to Eddie’s birthplace, Dublin, Ireland to visit a large extended family. One memorable trip was in 1978 when Marlyn and Eddie travelled with all 6 children to Dublin. Marlyn spent the year preparing for the trip by knitting each member of the family an Aran knit sweater so she could quickly account for each of us while travelling.

The family would like to thank the staff at River East Transcona Home Care and River East Personal Care Home for the wonderful care they provided Mom.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice in Marlyn’s memory would be gratefully received.
