Marvin Roy Sigurdson
February 17, 1955 - January 20, 2022
After a lengthy battle with cancer, Roy passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side.
Roy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years Candice, and their sons; Shawn (Shawna), Tyler (Stephanie), and Mark; grandchildren, Ben, Emilee, Ashlynn, Hayden, Aynslee, Athena, Skye, Theron, Anne-Drew, Tavyn, Ollie; sisters Sandra (Thor), Wendy (Kevin) Loris (Dave); brother Dennis (Charlene) and numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his parents Marino and Alice Sigurdson; in-laws Philip and Joyce Zagozewski; brother Gary; brothers-in-law Dean and Duane.
Roy was born in Arborg, Manitoba and raised on the family farm in Hnausa, where his love for family and farming began. While in school, Roy fished with his uncle Gestur and after graduation, he went on to work at Gimli Boatworks. Roy had many other jobs until the time he started working on the family farm with his father. After his father's passing, Roy and Dennis took over operations of the farm. Roy could always be counted on to repair numerous equipment around the farm or home. He also enjoyed carpentry and inventing new ways to make things work. He was a man of many talents, with one of his greatest achievements building his family home. Roy was a long-standing board member of the Hnausa Cemetery board. Roy loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed ice fishing with his buddies and hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. Roy loved coaching and cheering his sons on in hockey and later his grandchildren. He attended almost every game and tournament and was their #1 fan. Roy had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a very dedicated husband, father ,afi, and friend.
In following with Roy's wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hnausa Cemetery Association, Box 716, Riverton, MB, R0C 2R0, or Cancer Care Manitoba.
