Mary Kozoway Obituary

Mary Kozoway

Peacefully on May 4th, 2022, Mary passed away at the age of 97 years. Mary will be sadly missed by her children Dennis (Sandra) and Tammie (Larry) Burbella and grandchildren Bradley (Celia), Michael (Kayla), Laura, Curtis (Candace) and great grandchild, Lyra.  Mary was born in Hazeldell, Saskatchewan on July 17th, 1924.  She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2003, her parents and six brothers and four sisters.  She is survived by her brother Walter and sister Olga.
Mary grew up in Hazeldell, Saskatchewan.  She married John in 1951 and then settled in the Lockport area.  Mary and John were active in the Ukrainian Catholic parish in Rossdale and the Army and Navy in Selkirk.  She enjoyed flowers, gardening, making perogies at the church and in earlier years, catering.  Her love for her family was her greatest pride and joy.  Her grandchildren were very special to her and she would talk about them and their accomplishments often.  She had a special place in her heart for her great grandchild, Lyra, who always made "Great Baba" smile.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 9th, at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 530 Donald Rd, Lockport.  Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. For those who were unable to attend in person a recording of the Mass is available via the following link https://youtu.be/r4OhdVMUbsw
