Obituary

Maureen Ingibjorg White (née Doll)
September 2, 1942 – March 19, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen Ingibjorg White (née Doll), age 82, on March 19, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Maureen passed away peacefully with her two beloved sons by her side, and was reunited with the love of her life, Jim. In his embrace, she found peace, knowing their love was eternal.

Maureen’s strength, grace, and unwavering love for her family were evident throughout her illness. She faced each challenge with quiet resilience, never losing her warmth, sense of humor, or her capacity for care and kindness.

Maureen was born on September 2, 1942, in Selkirk, Manitoba, and grew up on the peaceful shores of Hecla Island. She learned the importance of family bonds early, which would remain central to her throughout her life.

Maureen is survived by her sons: Brad (Sheila) and their children, James and Emma; and Brent (Tayo) and their daughter, Manon. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim White, and her parents, Malvina (née Pruden) and Borgel Doll.

Maureen’s relationship with her mother, Malvina, was deep and loving, and she often reminisced about the lively days spent on Royal Avenue in Winnipeg, where the house was always full of family, laughter, and love.

In her later years, Maureen met Jim White, her soulmate. Together, they shared a lifetime of adventures, love, and joy. Whether they were dancing in the kitchen, enjoying quiet moments over coffee and a peeled orange, or traveling the world on cruises, their bond was rooted in deep companionship. During Jim’s battle with dementia, Maureen stood by him as a devoted caregiver, demonstrating patience, love, and unwavering dedication. Their love was a true partnership, grounded in friendship, trust, and an unbreakable bond.

Maureen’s summers at their cabin in Clandeboye, Manitoba, were some of her most cherished memories. Fishing at the creek, enjoying family barbecues, and soaking in the natural beauty of the surroundings were just a few of the special moments she held close to her heart.

She was a devoted mother who supported her sons, Brad and Brent, at every turn, volunteering at their schools and cheering them on through every stage of their lives. Maureen was extremely proud of her sons and loved their partners—Brad’s wife, Sheila, and Brent’s Fiancée, Tayo—as her own. Her love extended to her grandchildren, James and Emma, whom she adored. She made a personalized license plate that read “AMMA X2” to proudly reflect her love for them. When Manon, whom Maureen treated like a granddaughter, entered her life, she was in the process of changing it to “AMMA X3,” symbolizing the boundless love she had for all three of them.

Maureen’s heart was full of love for her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Whether relaxing in Palm Springs or visiting her grandchildren in Santa Barbara, these times brought her great joy.

Maureen’s lively spirit, infectious laughter, and playful nature were a highlight of every gathering. She had an uncanny ability to bring people together, always ready with a prank or a lighthearted moment that would leave everyone smiling.

Her love and loyalty also extended to the Stafford, Corbett, Eakin, McNaughton, Oake, and Stewart families—along with her niece Valerie Morrison, who were not just friends, but her true, beloved family. These families shared in the highs and lows of life with her, and their support was a constant source of strength throughout the years.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who offered love, care, and support during Maureen’s journey. Your kindness and compassion meant the world to her, and to all of us.

A special thank you to the palliative care team at St. Boniface Hospital for their exceptional kindness, dignity, and care during Maureen’s final days. Your compassion brought comfort and peace, and we are forever grateful for the gentle way you supported Maureen and our family.

Maureen lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
