Melvin Ottenbreit
June 28, 1950 – May 31, 2026
 

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melvin Ottenbreit at the age of 75 after a battle with cancer.

Mel will be remembered by his children, Jordan (Brittany), Jenny (Josh), and Trevor (McKenzie), as well as his grandchildren, family and friends.

Mel's greatest pride was his deep connection to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, anyone who has ever met him knows that he was the ball boy back in 1966 when they won their first cup! He found the greatest joy in watching football, fishing and golfing. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished forever. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Mel's life at a memorial race at the Assiniboia Downs on June 22, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome and encouraged to stop by for a race and a cold drink.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered support, care, and compassion during this difficult time.
