Melvin Trumbla Obituary

Melvin Carl Trumbla

June 8, 1965 - March 1, 2020

It is with heavy hearts and sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and papa Mel Trumbla, of Petersfield, MB, on Sunday, March 1, 2020.

Mel was predeceased by his father Gilbert; mother Margaret; brothers Harry and Jim and sister Sharon.

Left to mourn Mel’s passing are his loving wife Grace and their 3 children, Jeremy (Christal), Charmaine (Scott) and Lonie (Richard); 6 grandchildren who meant the world to him, Mallory, Elizabeth, Emily, Trevor, Liam and Hailey; brothers; sisters; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends.

Mel grew up and received his education in Waterhen, MB. He was the youngest child of a big family. He had 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Growing up, Mel had a great love of horses. He also liked to hunt, fish, work on vehicles and raise hell.

He settled down and met the love of his life and best friend, Grace. They moved to Winnipeg in 1989 and proceeded to start raising their family together from Winnipeg and a couple stops in between they settled in the Petersfield area, roughly 20 years ago and have remained since.

Over the years Mel worked tirelessly to provide a solid, stable, loving home for his family. From starting out as a construction labourer to being co-owner of a successful business. Mel’s skills and knowledge in the building and bridge construction industry were second to none.

Mel’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, watching Jets games, tinkering around on vehicles and small motors as well as ripping around on his sled and side by side, just to name a few.

Over the past 5 years or so he developed a real love for ice fishing. He would spend countless hours on that big frozen Lake Winnipeg, chasing giant pickerel around and enjoying every second of it.

The most important thing to Mel was his family. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and took every opportunity to brag about their accomplishments. He also beamed over the other children who were involved in his life in a big way. Earning their love and respect by being caring and gentle. A pocket full of chocolate bars or candy may have also contributed to some awfully big hugs and kisses.

Mel was a hardworking, caring, loyal, stubborn, fun to be around, beauty of a man who had no quit in him. He will be greatly missed by many.

We love you and miss you tremendously.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB.
