Michael (Mick) Calden Obituary

Michael Karl Calden

June 10, 1957 - May 2, 2025

“Mick” passed away into peaceful rest with his family by his side.  Born in Selkirk, he spent most of his life there, except for short periods in Vancouver and Fort McMurray, AB.  He is survived by his partner and best friend Heather, his daughters: Betina and Martina (Cole), and their mother Martha, grandchildren Charles and Lou, siblings Hildegard (Jim), Rika (Jeff), and Robert (Charlene), and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents Anneliese and Karl Friedrich Calden, siblings Walter, Monique, and baby David, and nephew Michael.

Mick had many skills and talents. His passions were art and carpentry.  He worked as a carpenter, sheet metalist, equipment operator and in apartment maintenance. He was a man who wore many “hats”; loved fishing, hunting, going to the beach, playing pool, and spending time with his buddies.

The family is very thankful for the help and care Mick/ Dad received throughout his battle with health issues over the past few years. We are especially grateful to Tori, and the dialysis Nurses at Selkirk Hospital and the staff at St. Boniface ICMS.

A private burial of Mick’s ashes and celebration of his life will take place in July 2025.
