Michael Kirk MacVicar
November 30, 1966 - September 29, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the death of our beloved Mike - husband, dad, bumpa, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and cherished friend to so many.
Left here without appropriate words to convey our love and loss, Mike leaves to forever cherish his memory: wife Sherry, kids Josh and Katie, grandsons Riley, Gus, Marlowe, Mason, Bentley and Baby Bump coming February 2026 (we'll see if Mike's bold prediction comes true), Mike's parents, Dave and Lorraine MacVicar, father-in-law Brian Swanson, siblings and spouses, David and Tracy MacVicar, Wayne and Sandra MacVicar, Kathleen and Andrew Dalman, Cherie-Lyne and Danny Petrowski, sister-in-law Tammy Kotowich, nephews and nieces, Joey, Scotty, Michael, Riley, Sarah, Becca, Dylon, Tanner, Jordan, Lauren, Brandon and Alysha with their partners and his ever growing great nephews and nieces. Along with extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mike was predeceased by brother-in-law Jamie Kotowich, best friend Bradley Pawluk, and mother-in-law Dorothy Swanson.
Professionally, Mike was a carpenter by trade, enjoyed his time at Selkirk Home Hardware RTM department, current Project Manager with the government for the past 18 years where he made many important and lasting friendships through his professional experiences.
Living all of his adult life in Winnipeg Beach made for friendships and connections with so many people who were important and Mike considered himself lucky to be part of so many aspects of our community - Mike was active, social and busy. Filling his spare time with yearly hunting trips, camping, quadding, gardening, amazing Disneyworld family and hot holiday vacations. Enjoying sports as a fan - Jets Hockey, Bombers football or participating in so many activities including weekly Inwood Golf, Legion Fun Darts, Winnipeg Beach curling or simple card games, Mike made friends with everyone along the way. Special times were in his garage enjoying great company, beers and his favorite "Whine & Moan" music, often accompanied by his faithful companion and sock stealer Buster dog.
Our family's utmost respect and gratitude goes to Mike's health care team at Gimli Community Health Center, Cancer Navigation Services, HSC Thoracic Clinic, Selkirk Easton Place & Emergency and Perimeter Aeromed.
The night Mike left our world, the most amazing Northern Lights shone and danced in the sky - Our memories and love for Mike will be forever triggered by the night sky and if ever you are missing him, doubting yourself or just need a moment to reflect, please look to the sky for Mike's signs and have strength to remember Mike's sentimental quote "Onward and Forever Forward"
Our family will be honored to welcome you to Mike's celebration of life to share memories, pictures and of course stories with love, respect and gratitude for a life well lived and forever cherished.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fraserwood Hall.
