Moira Mary Setter (née Cunningham)
June 16, 1945 – May 25, 2026
Peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026, on a beautiful sunny afternoon, Moira passed from this world with family by her side.
Moira is survived by her loyal companion of 45 years, John Bullivant (“Boogie”); her children, Rick (Leanne), Jackie (Trevor), and Lana (Dave); her grandchildren, Kylie (Troy), Brenden (Jana), TJ (Tayler), Olivia (Dylan), Stephanie, Ellen, Connor, and Jillian (Nolan); and her great-grandchildren, Raiden, Rowan, and Renley. She is also lovingly remembered by Leanne’s children, Bretton and Jared, as well as her brothers, Alex and Bob Cunningham.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Violet Cunningham; her first husband, John Setter; her brother Donny; her sisters Vi, Betty, and recently Adelaide: and daughter-in-law Val Setter (Paskaruk).
Moira was born on June 16, 1945, to Robert and Violet Cunningham and was raised in Clandeboye, Manitoba. She later moved to Selkirk, where she married John Setter and raised her three children. Over the years, Moira often fondly recalled her times at the West Kildonan Legion (Branch 30), the early days at Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation, and her retirement from the old clubhouse at the Selkirk Golf & Country Club.
Moira contributed greatly to her community while raising her family and continued to lend a helping hand whenever there was a need. Her garage sales became well known to many who came not only for treasures, but also for her homemade perogies, jams, and pickles.
Mom lived a full and meaningful life and was a strong-willed woman whom later in life faced life’s health challenges with resilience and determination with support from her kids. She will be deeply missed by her many longtime friends, especially Gladys Zinnick.
As per Moira’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. She will be interred at a private family gathering at a later date.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Selkirk Ambulance Service and the Selkirk Emergency Department for the care shown to Mom in her final days. A special thank you is also extended to the staff of the Selkirk Dialysis Unit for their compassionate care of Moira.
