Penny Yaworski

Penny Charlene Yaworski

July 9, 1948 – April 26, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Penny Yaworski, surrounded by her family at HSC, on Tuesday, April 26th, 2022, at the age of 73 years. 

Penny will be missed and forever cherished by her husband Michael Yaworski, daughter Tanya (Jeff Hucul); her grandchildren Macayla, Merrick McKenna; her brothers Ted (Jane) Chamberlain and Jim Chamberlain, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her father and mother William and Agnes Chamberlain, and her sister-in-law Marilyn Chamberlain.

Penny was born in Selkirk, MB, on July 9, 1948, to William and Agnes Chamberlain, where she was raised and helped out on the family dairy farm, in Rossdale, MB. 

On June 14, 1969, she married Michael Yaworski, the love of her life. Together, they enjoyed 52 years of marriage. 

Penny worked as a hairdresser at Bruno’s in downtown Winnipeg, until the birth of her daughter Tanya. She remained a personal hairdresser for many of her friends and family. 

Over the years, she enjoyed various crafts such as, paper tole, stained glass, and ceramics.  Penny also had many interests and hobbies, such as cake decorating, playing bingo, card games, baking, camping, fishing, boating, puzzles, and solving sudoku puzzles.

Penny enjoyed family road trips to Grand Forks and Fargo, and spending summer vacations fishing, boating, and playing endless games of cards, Yahtzee, and Farkle with her grandchildren. 

In the past few years, Mike and Penny enjoyed their morning routine of going to the Selkirk water front to watch people fish, while enjoying their McDonalds coffee and apple pie. 

Penny was an incredibly loving and kind woman, and was loved by everyone.  She always looked forward to spending time with family and friends, and will be remembered by her caring nature.  She loved her grandchildren more than she could express, and they were the light of her life. 

A funeral service will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB, at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022. 

A private family interment will take place at St. Andrews Cemetery at a later date.
