It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, stepfather, husband, grandfather, and friend, Peter Bacon, on July 2, 2026, at the age of 87.

Peter passed away peacefully at home in Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba, with the love of his life, his beloved wife, Shannon Bacon, by his side. In one of life’s most tender moments, the last words they shared were simply, “I love you.” Those words beautifully reflected the faithful, enduring love that defined their marriage throughout the past 23 years.

Born on October 5, 1938, in Dinnington, England, Peter courageously left his homeland to build a new life in Canada. Before coming to Canada, Peter proudly served as a police officer in England, a career he thoroughly enjoyed and one that remained a source of great pride throughout his life.

After immigrating to Canada, Peter continued building a life he was deeply proud of. He owned and operated a driving school in Russell, Manitoba, before dedicating more than fifteen years of service to the Government of Manitoba in Taxation. Whether serving his community, helping others learn to drive, or working with numbers, Peter approached everything he did with integrity, dedication, and a remarkable work ethic.

Peter possessed a brilliant mind and a lifelong love of learning. He had an extraordinary gift for numbers, enjoyed meaningful conversations, and was never shy about offering wisdom to those he loved. We always loved his dry British wit! 

Family and friends knew they could count on his thoughtful advice, gentle encouragement, and quiet strength. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone privileged to know him.

A devoted national soccer fan and lifelong supporter of Manchester United, Peter found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved walking with Shannon, spending time with family, playing games, sharing stories, and making others laugh with his quick wit and perfectly timed one-liners. He especially appreciated the delicious meals, baking, and treats Shannon lovingly prepared over the years, knowing every meal was another expression of her love.

Above all, Peter loved his family.

Peter lovingly embraced a blended family and leaves behind his beloved wife of twenty-three years, Shannon Bacon; his daughters, Michelle (Andre) Bacon and Charmaine Bacon (Sean); and his stepchildren, Amy Rondeau (Darren), Robyn Campbell, and Jason Rondeau (Bobbie-Jo). He will also be lovingly remembered by his cherished grandchildren, Carter Polet, Destyne Rondeau, Autumn Campbell, and Aspen Campbell.

He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Mary Bacon, and his brother, Colin Bacon. He is survived by his sister-in-law Dorothy Bacon, brother, Tom Bacon (Margaret), together with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Peter’s legacy will not simply be measured by the years he lived, but by the lives he touched, the wisdom he shared, the love he faithfully gave, the kindness he freely extended, and the quiet strength with which he walked through life.

His kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in the words of our Lord:

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he

may die, he shall live." — John 11:25

In keeping with Peter’s wishes, a private family service will be held.
