It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Dad, Ray Dutka, age 83.

Dad lived a life of fierce independence; grounded in family, hard work, and an appreciation for the simple things. He found joy with a fishing rod in hand, happiness surrounded by family, and took great pride in his yard, home and garden. His love for gardening was well known—especially the care he put into growing vegetables (Just a taste) and for making his famous pickles, which he delighted in sharing with anyone who crossed his path. Somehow your visit with him always turned into a bag, a jar, or an armful of produce being sent home with you. Giving came naturally to Dad and with it we were reminded that love is often shown through simple acts.

Raymond is predeceased by his parents, Steve and Anne Dutka and his beloved partner, Evelyn Kowal.

Raymond is survived by his siblings, sister Marlene Van Helden; brother Barry Dutka (Debi); and his nephews their families, also many good friends.

Ray will be lovingly remembered by his children: Oleh (Danyell), Angela (Gerald), Shelley (Eldon), and Shawn; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Jordan (Adam), Chase, Taylor, Jalen and Austin who brought him immense pride and joy.

Above all else, Dad loved his family and his legacy lives on in our memories of shared meals, well tended gardens, and stories told with much laughter. His steady presence, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

The family thanks the dedicated and caring staff at Selkirk Regional Health Centre in the Emergency Dept and Palliative Care who cared for Dad in his last days of life.
