 In Loving Memory of Rena Jeanne Plischke

March 16, 1933 - July 1st, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. 

Rena leaves behind her devoted husband of 63 years, Bernard Plischke; her loving children, Cheryl Bazin (Richard), Lynn Caron-Plischke, and Paul Plischke (Dhalie); her cherished grandchildren, Chantal Bazin (David), David Bazin (Julie), Alex Bazin, Allegra Fajardo, Andrés Fajardo (Erika), Adrian Fajardo, Annika Fajardo, Michael Plischke (Dragana), and Sarah Plischke; her treasured great-grandson, Drew Fajardo; and her sisters, Irene Gagnon (Mike) and Blanche Caron;  and her in-laws. She will also be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, her extended family and many dear friends.

A woman of deep Catholic faith, Rena was a devoted and selfless mother who expressed her love often through cooking for those around her. Her home was always beautifully kept and filled with the aromas of wonderful meals shared with family and friends. Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, bridge parties and Sunday dinners were occasions she delighted in hosting.

Elegant woman, Rena had a sophisticated sense of fashion. While raising her family, she was a French immersion teacher who genuinely enjoyed helping children learn.

With a love of travel, Rena and her husband, Bernie, travelled throughout Europe, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, the Bahamas, and Mexico. At home, she enjoyed playing bridge, completing challenging Sudoku puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, and was admired for her remarkable ability to organize, accomplish, and care for those she loved.

More than anything, Rena will be remembered for her strength, her generous heart and her unwavering love of family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Gimli, Manitoba, with a reception to follow.
