Richard Krasnesky Obituary

Richard Krasnesky

June 15, 1945 - November 6, 2023

On November 6, 2023, Richard Krasnesky peacefully passed away with his family and friends by his side after a long courageous battle with COPD.

Richard was predeceased by his beautiful wife June Krasnesky; his grandson Tyler Smith; parents George and Gladys Krasnesky; sister Grace Lavallee and brother Randy Krasnesky.

Richard leaves to mourn his children; sons Shawn, Rick, Jerry and daughter Joanne (Trent); grandchildren Steven, Shayne, Darian, Burgundy, Austin, Lynnea, Nikolys, Klaudyia, Trayton, Trevin and Trenton; great-grandchildren Mila-June, Jayce, Harmony, Brantley, Charlie and Cooper.

Richard was born in Manchester, England, immigrating to Canada by boat at 16 months old. He grew up in Elmwood and the North End of Winnipeg. Richard married the love of his life in April 1965 and soon after started their family blessing them with 4 beautiful children followed by 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Richard began his career in the trades working at Sutherland Supply from 1965-1985. He worked his way up from a yard hand, excelling into management. Throughout the years Richard was also employed in the landscaping industry, worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was Owner/Operator of Superior Fencing.  He ended his career as a contractor in the drywall business. Richard was very knowledgeable within the trades and would often help customers by going with them to their homes to see what was needed to help them complete their home projects.

Richard was a very caring and giving man. He frequently helped family, friends and acquaintances with many home renovations over the years. He had a big smile that matched his loving heart.

His family meant the world to him. Richard and June worked together to overcome the hardships they encountered in life as a team. Together they instilled the importance of family values onto their children, teaching that family supports each other, no matter what.

Richard had a passion for music, learning to play guitar by ear. He loved to sing his favorite songs, strumming his guitar with his family by his side.

Although Richard wished he had more time in this world, he looked forward to being reunited with his love June and his grandson Tyler in the afterlife.

We would like to thank Dr. Alexander and the palliative care team; Dr. Puff and nurse Heidi, for the excellent, compassionate care they provided to our dad.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Selkirk United Church, 202 McLean Ave in Selkirk, Manitoba.
