Passed peacefully with his beloved family by his side after a few years of illness.

Bob had a long and successful career but his family was always his priority, and he took special delight in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Blanche, of 66 years of marriage; loving daughters Karen (Dennis) and Susan (Paul), sister Grace (Dave) and  daughter-in-law Brenda; cherished granddaughters Kendra, Rhea and Allison, grandson Scott, and great-granddaughters Julia and Ada. He was predeceased by his sons Wayne (62) and Daryl (8) and infant daughter Diane.

Bob was a pure prairie person. He was born in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan and completed a BSc in Ceramic Engineering at University of Saskatchewan alongside his best friend Elson Hanson. Then he began his 35-year career as Ceramic Engineer with I-XL Brick and Tile in Medicine Hat, Alberta. It was there he met Blanche and they began their lives together.

With Wayne as a toddler, they had a short time in Seattle, where Bob completed his MSc in Ceramic Engineering at University of Washington. Then back to working and raising a family in Medicine Hat. Seven years later, and with four children, Bob and Blanche moved to Regina, Saskatchewan so Bob could manage the I-XL plant there.

Bob and the family had another move six years later, to Selkirk, Manitoba so he could run the local brick plant -- at the same time as managing the plant in Edmonton. He enjoyed his work, especially working with office and plant staff to solve problems and keep clients happy. A highlight of Bob’s career was working with the architect, Douglas Cardinal on custom bricks for two of his buildings.

Through all moves and work demands Bob always ensured his family was well supported and felt loved.  We always knew he was there for us. Our Dad and Grandpa took us for many happy, conversation-filled dinners at Winnipeg’s best restaurants, though his favourite was a family dinner at home or a BBQ at the cottage at Lee River. He also enjoyed many close friendships over the years.

Bob also contributed to the broader community. In Regina he was a member of Kinsmen, and in Selkirk he was active the Rotary Club as well as a member of the Presbyterian Church choir and volunteer treasurer for many years.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre for their kind attention to Bob and his family over the last few years.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, enjoy a good meal with family or friends and toast Bob.
