Roger Swirski
January 5, 1955 – February 7, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roger Swirski on February 7, 2025, at the age of 70, surrounded by his family. Roger was a devoted husband, a loving father, an incredible grandfather, and a cherished friend to many.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Barbara Swirski, and his daughter, Kathleen Michaluk (Jordan). Roger took great pride in being a doting grandpa to Brooklyn, with whom he shared countless moments of laughter, playful banter, and friendly competition over board games. His unwavering love for his family brought him immense joy in spending time with them.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Lena and Walter Swirski. He is survived by his brothers, Lorne Swirski (Sandra) and Allen Swirski (Joy), and many dear cousins, nephews, nieces and friends who will fondly remember his kindness, warmth, and generosity of spirit.
A true animal lover, Roger adored his dogs and ensured that every chair he bought was big enough to share with them. He found happiness in simple pleasures, whether tinkering outdoors, going for car rides, or leisurely strolling through Canadian Tire and Princess Auto. His presence brought comfort and joy to those around him, and his legacy of compassion and love will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
The family would like to thank the palliative care team, doctors, and nurses at Health Sciences Centre Hospital for their exceptional care and support.
A funeral to honour Roger's life will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk on Saturday, February 22, at noon, followed by a lunch and burial service at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Winnipeg Beach.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society in Roger's memory.
Roger's family will cherish his memory forever, and his gentle spirit will continue to guide them.
