Roland “Rolly” Theodore Poitras

July 10,1937 - May 26, 2026

Peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on May 26, 2026, Rolly passed away at the age of 88.

Predeceased by his father Lucien, mother Jeanne St. Croix (Poitras, nee Vincent),  brother Dennis and his sons Marty and Donn. He is survived by his children Ed (Kathy), Norman, Kippi, Todd, Jill (Colin), his siblings Roger (Megan), Linda (Bruce), Michele (Ivan), Corinne (Denis) and many nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Rolly will be remembered as a man always on the go. If he wasn’t driving from one restaurant to another, he was heading down the highway across the country. Long Haul trucking was more than just work for Rolly; he loved the open road.

Rolly was a very skilled mechanic and heavy machine operator. He was also gifted in massage therapy and reflexology. He had a soft spot for animals and a unique talent where he could “cat nap” anytime, anywhere.

Though the highways have ended here on earth,

we trust that Rolly is still rolling down the highway somewhere beyond the horizon.

We would like to thank the staff at Middlechurch Personal Care Home for the excellent and compassionate care of Rolly.

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at Saint-Georges Roman Catholic Cemetery in the fall.
