Ronald McMillan Atkins
1959 – 2026
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ron (Monker) Atkins on June 24, 2026.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Cheryl, daughter Crystal (Curtis), and granddaughters, Willow and Violet.
Also left to mourn are his brothers and sisters, Bill (Jean), Keith (Charlene), Debbie (Joe), Ken (Rhonda), Brian (Dolly), Kevin, Terry, Tara (Brian) and Trevor (Jackie); mother-in-law Phylis Linklater, in-laws Leona, Rhonda (Ken), Sandra (Tom), Darren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Ron was predeceased by parents, William and Florence Atkins, sister Edie-Anne, brother-in-law Richard, nephew Brett, father-in-law Harold Linklater and brother-in-law Dale.
Ron was born and raised in Selkirk and worked in the graphic arts industry. He enjoyed all sports, both playing and watching. When he became a proud grandfather, his favorite enjoyment quickly became spending time with his cherished granddaughters, Willow and Violet. He could never get enough time with them, and he would do anything for his girls.
Cremation has taken place, a celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 1-3 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Br 42, Selkirk, upstairs.
For those who wish, donations in memory of Ron can be made to a children’s charity of your choice.
On July 16, 1983, I Married my best friend.
Sadly, on June 24, 2026, I said goodbye to my best friend.
