Obituary

Rose Lillian Victoria Wills

Peacefully, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, Rose Lillian Victoria Wills, aged 95 years, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital.

Rose was born in London, England, on January 16, 1928 to William and Adelaide Elkins. She was predeceased by the love of her life and husband, William (Bill) Wills, and her sisters Babe and Dolly, and brother George. Rose's love and laughter will be deeply missed by her children Stephen (Kath), Nigel (Cindy), Richard (Shelley), Paul, and sister Marian. She was a proud grandmother to Jennifer (Kyle), Victoria (Mike), Michael (Angela), Brenda (Adrian), Sean (Lindsay), Matthew (Vicky), Kaleigh (Richard), Stacey (Scott), Tamara, and Tyla (Andrew), and great-grandmother to Brody, Bailey, Mikhaila, Makayla, Will, Weston, Valentina, Avianna, Ethan, Wyatt, Tegan, Bexley, and Rowan. Rose is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Rose and her loving husband Bill moved to Selkirk in 1957 with their three young sons at the time to start a new life and to pursue new opportunities and careers. Rose worked as a social worker at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre for many years until her retirement in 1987, and was well regarded for her ability to connect with patients and their families. Following retirement, she further pursued her love of travel and adventure with Bill and then with her good friends from Middlechurch on the Red. She was a staunch supporter of continuous learning and was always willing to try new things. Rose was a supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always encouraging her family to follow their interests and taking an interest herself. She was an avid reader and the family champion of Scrabble with an unmatched vocabulary. She was a bright light in the lives of many and we will all miss her great sense of humour, warmth, kindness, and contagious laugh.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB. The service will be livestreamed via the following link https://youtube.com/live/tkrPiB8eiMc
