Sarah Webb Obituary

Sarah Vivian Rose Webb

(nee: Arthurson)

October 9, 1932 – October 16, 2021

On Saturday, October 16, 2021 with her children by her side, Mom went peacefully to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Wallace, parents Arthur and Susan; brothers Bliss, Stanley, Iphus, Franklin and Ralph;  children Clarice, Lillian and Wallace Jr.; grandsons Patrick, Jessie and Joshua and great-grandsons Michael and Gregory; 10 sisters-in-law and 7 brothers-in-law.

Left to cherish the beautiful memories of Mom are her children Diane, Mary Lynn (Virgil), Norine, Bliss, Dale (Clara), Carol (Doug), Charlene (Jerry), and Louisa (Stewart); sisters Merdina Cameron (Percy), Lillian Morrisseau, Ivy  McIver (Terry) and Ila McIver (Douglas); sisters-in-law Connie and Virginia Arthurson; 27 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom she loved.

Mom was born and raised in Norway House and lived most of her life in Selkirk where, with Wallace by her side, raised their children.

Growing up, we always had a house full because Mom always had room for those friends and family that needed somewhere to stay. She never turned anyone away and without question if you needed help, she was always there for you. Over the years, many people have been touched by the generosity and love of our Mother.

Mom’s priority in her life were her children and grandchildren. Each grandchild having special memories of the times spent with their Nanny. Mom was always busy singing as she did housework and she enjoyed playing bingo, she was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles. Lovingly known to her grandchildren as Nanny, Old Nanny and Old Old Nanny she busied herself knitting socks and mitts for them and mending what needed mending. Mom was a very strong woman. She was a breast cancer and colon cancer survivor and after the loss of Wallace in 1979, she continued to raise us on her own along with helping raise her grandchildren.

In her later years she lived with Louisa and Stewart and granddaughters Miranda, Michaela and Ryann. All of whom did such a wonderful job lovingly caring for her through illnesses and happy times.

Mom will be deeply missed by many but will always be in our hearts.

A viewing will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk on Tuesday, October 19 from 1-3 p.m. with cremation to follow . A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Jude's Anglican Cemetery in Grand Marais, Manitoba. Proof of vaccination and government ID will be required to attend both services.
