Obituary

Shirley Joyce Adams (nee Begg)

A life well lived, Shirley Joyce Adams (nee Begg) passed away peacefully on April 30th, 2025 in Selkirk, Manitoba. She was ninety-two years old.

Shirley was born in Selkirk, Manitoba on October 20, 1932. She grew up in the St. Clements area with three brothers, Howard, Ronnie, Harvey and two sisters, Marge and Hazel. Shirley was the last of that generation.

She worked many years for Lord Selkirk School Division and later became a cleaning contractor. Shirley loved woman’s softball. First playing with the Mapleton Expo-ettes and then with the Hoot’s Hustlers, all in the St. Clements area. She was the second baseman and could hit a mean line drive down third! When the family moved to Pine Falls, Manitoba she became an avid bowler, winning many trophies.

After her husband passed, she moved to Ontario to be with her son and his family. After a few years she moved back to “Gods Country” Pine Falls. She continued bowling, sewing, reading, playing solitaire and board games. Eventually, she moved back to Selkirk to spend her final years.

Shirley is survived by her children, Norene Adams (Tom), Ken Adams (Carol), Ron Adams (Heather), Heather Smith (Walter), Ann Lorene Adams, Rick Peters (Shirley); sixteen grandchildren and thirty two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband C.P (Hoot) Adams, parents Nora and George Begg, her baby sister Ann, a granddaughter, and a great-grandson.

A private family service will be held at a later date, as per Shirley’s requests.

Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy - John 16:22
