Stanford Leslie Monkman
December 5th, 1949 – August 26th, 2023
It is with the heaviest of hearts and greatest sadness the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved Stanford at his home on Saturday August 26th, 2023 at the age of 73.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Jennifer (Jay), grandsons Joshua, Jordan and Jackson, granddaughters Kirsten (Ariella and Maddyn), Jessie-Mae and Shaylah. He is also survived by his sisters Doreen (Edgar) and Betty, sister-in-law Yvonne, Sandra his special friend and mother of his children, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and the many friends he met along the way.
Stanford was predeceased by his son Kelvin, parents Tom and Martha, sister Kathy, brother Monty, sister-in-law Phyllis and brother-in-law Roy.
Stan was raised in Loon Straits, but life took him many places. Growing up in Loon Straits, he learned how to fish alongside his dad. Fishing carried him into his adult life as a commercial fisherman on Lake Winnipeg. Stan decided to end his fishing career and start a new line of work as a carpenter, which carried him until his retirement in 2016. In 2017 he moved to Elma to be close to his daughter and grandsons. During his time in Elma he acquired many good friendships and memories.
Stan will be fondly remembered for his many stories, his willingness to help and his immense wisdom. Everywhere Stan walked, picked, played, tinkered and drove, he did it with pride. There was no person he couldn’t make laugh or bring joy into someone’s day. He will truly be missed.
Rest In Peace, until we meet again. Fly high “Stan the Man”
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life is pending.
