Stuart A. Cotton

(1931-2018)


Peacefully, on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Stuart Cotton passed away at the age of 87 after a lengthy battle with cancer.


Stuart was predeceased by his grandson Jeffery, and his son-in-law Neil. Stuart is survived by Marion, his wife of 66 years, and their children Andrew (Trish), Carol, Diane (Craig), Bruce (Dawn) and Ann Marie (Phil), ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.


Stuart was born in Cornwall, England. He sailed to Canada in 1951 to follow his dream of owning his own farm. Stuart was later joined by his fiancée, Marion Chapman, and they married on May 3, 1952.


The Cotton family eventually settled in Clandeboye, Manitoba, where Stuart owned a dairy farm. Stuart was an active member of his community, he was also a 4-H leader, and was involved in the Interlake district milk producers association and the Selkirk Veterinary Board.

After his retirement Stuart enjoyed gardening and traveling, he learned how to use a computer and wrote a book about his life.


A celebration of Stuart’s life will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clandeboye United Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Clandeboye United Church Memorial Fund.
