Susan Halipchuk Obituary

Susan Halipchuk (nee Lowrie)
January 22, 1964 – October 16, 2019

Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Halipchuk on October 16, 2019 at the age of 55 with her loved ones by her side.

Susan will be forever remembered by Wayne, her husband of 33 years; their children Andrew, Laura and Haleigh; her dad and mom, Peter and Margaret; brother Stephen (Denise); brother-in-law Jim (Barb); sisters-in-law Mary-Ellen (Roly) and Shauna; Godchildren Stephanie and Kurnin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews across Canada and a host of her aunts, uncles, and cousins in England, Sweden and the United States.

She is predeceased by Wayne’s parents, Mike and Margaret (nee Hunt) and her brothers-in-law, Michael and Larry.

Susan was born on January 22, 1964 to Margaret and Peter Lowrie in Darlington, England. The family had lived in Oshawa, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec before they found their home in Selkirk, Manitoba, where she found the love of her life, Wayne. Susan enjoyed traveling, reading and knitting (especially baby blankets every time someone was expecting). She also loved to spend time with her family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Susan always had a smile on her face that could lighten up any room and was loved by everyone that knew her. Susan’s desire to help others led her to a career in health services, which she worked in adamantly following her graduation from the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive High School.

We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre and CancerCare Manitoba for their continued support and care.

Susan’s memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St, Selkirk, Manitoba.

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
