Susan Marilyn Johnson

Peacefully, on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the Betel Home in Selkirk, Manitoba, Susan Johnson, aged 77 years of Selkirk, beloved wife of Harold passed away.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 34 years Harold Johnson. Also to mourn her passing are Susan’s two sons Dale Cooper (Deanna) and Russell Cooper, along with grandson Talon Cooper; two stepsons Karl Johnson (Andre) and Jeffrey Johnson (Peter); also two foster grandchildren Oceane and Riley; sister Iris Vaningan; brothers Walter and William Goltz. Susan was predeceased by her parents August and Martha Goltz; first husband Mel Cooper; sisters Anne Jeske, Ruth Hayes, Helen McIntyre, and Hilda Dykau.

Susan was the youngest of eight children born on August 17, 1942, in Minitonas, Manitoba to August and Martha Goltz. Susan married Mel Cooper in September of 1961, and the union resulted in two sons Dale and Russell. On December 21, 1985 Susan and Harold Johnson were married in a small ceremony in Dryden Ontario. Over the last 34 years they have enjoyed being together in all of life’s many moments. Susan enjoyed a good BBQ and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing crib, working through crosswords and enjoying time with Harold watching many of their favorite programs.

The family would like to express their outmost gratitude to the staff and management at Betel Home in Selkirk for their compassionate care of Susan.

In keeping with Susan’s wishes cremation has taken place and a small memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29th at 11:00 a.m., at the Gilbart Funeral Home on 309 Eveline Street in Selkirk, Manitoba. Please contact the family if you would like to attend at focustowin315@yahoo.ca
